From 8U Head Coach Paul Melanson:

What an incredible weekend of hockey for both our Green and Black teams! I couldn't be prouder of the hard work, determination, and heart these kids showed throughout the tournament. Both teams played amazing hockey, worked together, supported one another, and most importantly, had fun! Our Black team's championship game was a perfect example of what happens when you never give up, believe in yourself, and keep pushing until the final buzzer. It was a great weekend, filled with teamwork, perseverence, and memories these kids won't soon forget. So proud of both teams!

Team Recognition

12UAA- Bojarksi

We are incredibly proud of our 12UAA Cougars and the way they played throughout the Pittsburgh Puck Drop tournament! While bringing home the championship was exciting, what made us most proud was how the team won.

Throughout the weekend, the coaches emphasized the importance of working together and making decisions that put the team first. The players embraced that message every step of the way—hustling, moving the puck, encouraging one another, and staying disciplined by avoiding unnecessary penalties. Their hard work, commitment, and selflessness were evident in every game.

The Cougars went undefeated in all five games to capture the championship, with every player making valuable contributions along the way. Whether through goals, assists, strong defensive play, outstanding goaltending, or simply lifting up a teammate, everyone played an important role in the team's success.

It was so much fun to see these Cougars shine, and we couldn't be prouder of this group!

10U A National- Blaine

Heading into our first tournament weekend, our coaching staff challenged the team to focus on two core pillars:

  • Playing "Dangerous": Dictating the pace, attacking with relentless energy, and staying proactive on both sides of the puck rather than sitting back and waiting for the game to come to us.

  • Playing for "Each Other": Recognizing that our greatest strength is collective effort. Sustained success doesn't depend on just one or two individuals — it requires every single player buying in, competing, and supporting their teammates.

The team took these lessons to heart right out of the gate on Friday afternoon. Setting the tone early, the players sustained that high compete level all weekend long, skating to an undefeated 4-0 run and securing the championship with a thrilling, nail-biting 5-4 victory against the New Jersey Rockets in the final.

Beyond the hardware, what stood out most was the grit and unselfishness on display all weekend. Thank you to all our families for the fantastic energy, cheering, and support throughout the weekend. We have plenty of season ahead, but this weekend was a huge step forward in defining who we are as a hockey team.

Proud of this group — let's keep building!
